Tricks to Having a Great Night’s Sleep

Struggling to sleep at night? Are you tossing and turning trying to find a sweet spot? Is it too hot or too cold for you?

Well, thankfully, we have the answer to a great night sleep. In this article, we will cover the right type of bedding for you so you spend more time enjoying sleep.

Bedding
Let’s start off with comfort… how comfortable is you bedding at the moment? Do you have an old mattress? Or old bedding? If that’s the case, then you will definitely need to update your bedding.

We recommend that you buy a firm mattress. Some prefer memory foam and some don’t – it’s completely your choice. Try out various types of mattresses and see what works best for you.

There are many types of filled bedding – feathers and microfibre. Again, it’s about what works best for you. In summer months, you will need 100% cotton bedding as that helps take heat away from your body. For extra comfort, be sure to use a mattress topper. This adds additional comfort and guaranteed better quality sleep. When it comes to duvets, pillows and mattress toppers we highly recommend shopping at Vision – Hotel bedding wholesalers.

Linens
Everyone knows sleeping in fresh linens are the best feeling in the world! You feel much cosier and comfortable in fresh linens, and therefore you are more likely to get a better night’s sleep. It is advised that you wash your linens every week. Aim to buy higher thread count linen for better quality and long lasting linens.

Lighting
It is much easier and quicker to fall asleep in a pitch-black room. So try and darken your room as much as possible and block out any external lighting. Do not use your phone before you sleep! Your phone screen activates blue light – which makes you wake up and therefore it will be much more difficult to fall asleep.

Noise
You can have external and internal noises which can be affecting your sleep. External noises can be cars outside your residence or construction work. Internal noises can be your washer, fridge or electronics. Make sure your room in pin drop silent to ensure you fall asleep quicker.

However, some like the noise of rain or ‘pink noise’, and claim that it helps them fall asleep quicker because it’s calming. Try it and see what works best for you.

Temperature
This is purely down to personal preference. Some like their bedroom warm and some like it cold. Personally, I like sleeping in a cold room but I automatically set my heating to cover active at 6am, so once I wake up the house is warm.

Apply and test all these methods and see what works best for you. This is about personal preference and not everyone feels the same about certain things.

*I would not advise taking sleeping pills, unless told so by your doctor*
